Eco Trail at the sustainable Porto Belo Island

The island is in the municipality of Porto Belo (SC), known as “Costa Esmeralda”. The site can be considered an open-air museum due to its history of occupation (by Neolithic peoples and Portuguese settlers), in addition to the rich fauna and flora. After disembarking from the ship's boat, it's a short trip to the island of Porto Belo. The exploration begins with a panoramic walk along the ecological trail, whose stretch is 1,300 meters long in the middle of the Atlantic Forest.

The highlight is the legends related to the history of the occupation of the island, such as “The Golden Angel”. This legend tells a story about Jesuits who would have hidden under a rock, called Pedra da Cruz, a statue of an angel. Along the trail there is also the lookout, which presents the visitor with a fantastic view, the environmental refuge, with an orchid garden and space for wild animals and birds, in addition to all the sounds and colors of nature.
