A Bunker Hub for Green Fuels for Shipping

Partnering to Establish a Bunker Hub for Sustainable Marine Fuels

The port of Roenne has established the Bornholm Bunker Hub partnership together with Ørsted, Bunker Holding, Topsoe, Ramboll, Bureau Veritas, Molslinjen and Wärtsilä with the vision of establishing the port of Roenne as a hub for green fuels for shipping, if possible, in 2025. The aim is for fuels like biofuels, methanol, and ammonia to be made available when requested by customers.

By 2030, Bornholm will be one of two Danish energy islands with significant amounts of green electricity which, amongst other uses, can be used for production of the green fuels offered at the Bornholm Bunker Hub. The green power can also be part of onshore power supply in the port.

“We see a huge potential in both the Energy Island and Bornholm Bunker Hub which will strengthen our efforts to be an energy-port focused on green transition and green fuels. It’s our vision to take advantage of Bornholm’s strategic position in the Baltic in order to create growth.”
