Application of Digital Technologies to Improve Efficiencies

As one of the pioneers of the digitalization transition, the Ports of Madeira Authority has introduced a digital platform which includes a vessel monitoring and port traffic planning tool.

The digital platform provides real time information about ship movements in the port areas and approach zones, access to vessel details and voyage information, as well as navigational information about distances and angles within the port area.

The system is used to manage the pier and its daily operations, including cruise arrivals and departures. The result is enhanced planning capability and greater efficiency and sustainability of port activities.
